Lucid dreaming

Def:A lucid dream is a dream in which the person is aware that they are dreaming while the dream is in progress, also known as a conscious dream. When the dreamer is lucid, they can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can be extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream.

I often....no ALWAYS, find myself in this state during my naps between classes. It is one of the most unpleasant places to be. I feel trapped in my own dream. Kind of like a prisoner trying to get out. Today , specifically, was one of the worst moments where I was dying to wake up and gain full consciousness.

I had a Stats mid-term to retake today and I planned to go to the library beforehand to do the studying I never did over break. The plan fell through when I filled myself with a chicken caesar wrap and fell into a partial food coma. I had even told Grace beforehand to wake me up around noon-thirty so I can get a decent amount of study time.

I don't recall much of what happened in my dream except that it seemed all too real and I begged every one to please wake me up. I think I was in Michelle's sorority house and I remember asking "Am I awake right now? If not can you call my cell phone and wake me up!!!" And this just about goes on with every person I encountered. I'm usually half-awake at this point but it is just so hard to gain full consciousness.

When Grace woke me up (for real) I was so inclined to just yell at her to save me and wake me ...and push me off the bed. Just something to get me out of what seemed like two worlds. All that came out was "fuck this, I'm sleeping some more...where's my alarm clock." I ended up waking up about 20 minutes before I had to go to class. So much for studying. I hate lucid dreaming sometimes.

I went to a chamber music concert at the PAC tonight with Evan since I was super bored. I kind of looked forward to it because it's one of the first instrumental concerts I attended without have to dress in all black and worry about playing or take down notes about each piece. I ended up getting very bored in the middle of the flute orchestra and I got tired of the bassoon's real fast. Towards the end of the program, we noticed a section titled Heavy Metal. Evan and I got stoked for about 2 seconds and joked about how the conductor was a producer for Metallica and was the former bassist of Megadeath. Then we decided it would be cool if they played some sort of metal cover...or something.

Anyway, when the musicians came out, heavy metal was quite literally referring to their instruments made out of the heaviest metals such as the tuba and other large instruments. Hahah, it was so funny. I am never attending a music shindig like that ever again.
